Fragrance compositions - basic classification
We divide perfumes into different types of composition to suit our taste - this is subjective. Some prefer refreshing or sweet fragrances while others prefer extremely strong fragrances.
Fruit and citrus perfumes are some of the oldest compositions in the world. They are very refreshing, fresh and extracted from the rinds of fruits, including lemon, orange, lime, mandarin, grapefruit or bergamot. They are extremely popular - especially during the summer season. Sweet perfumes, on the other hand, are not distinguished as a separate family of fragrances, but are extremely popular with women. Ladies are keen to reach for perfumes that they describe as sweet.
Floral compositions are among the largest group and are fragrances extracted from jasmine, lavender, rose, ylang-ylang, violet, orange blossom, gardenia and lily of the valley. They are a frequent yet versatile option for everyday wear and are extremely girly, feminine and charming. A separate group are woody perfumes - they are based on cedar, the warmth of sandalwood or patchouli. They are usually the perfume of choice for men.
Essential and intense oriental perfumes are heavier and filled with warm notes of amber, vanilla, cinnamon, tonka beans, spices, myrrh or musk. They are very popular with elegant gentlemen. As for fern perfumes, they contain floral scents - lavender, moss, coumarin and other plants. These usually find their way into men's fragrances. Spicy perfumes, on the other hand, are a combination of leather, floral and woody aromas, but also include honey, smoke and tobacco.
