3 popular myths about men's skincare
There are many myths about men's skincare. One of them is that men's skincare products are an invention of cosmetic companies and are in fact no different from women's skincare products.
The second myth is that men, compared to women, limit themselves to the bare minimum, i.e. soap and aftershave, and do not reach for more cosmetics.
The third myth is that men's skin is resistant to harmful external influences and copes perfectly well without the help of cosmetics. We rush to clear up these misconceptions!
First of all: the creation of male grooming products is not at all an invention for the sake of making money. It is purely a response to market demand: that is, men themselves, who care for their skin and hair no less than ladies. Most men who have had the opportunity to use feminine/universal products and cosmetics for men definitely notice the difference. They indicate that women's and universal cosmetics had a weaker effect than cosmetics designed for men. This is due to the fundamental difference in the thickness of women's and men's skin. Men's skin is about 25% thicker than women's skin. This means that skincare products for men must have richer compositions and formulations to meet their skin's greater needs.
Secondly, men do not want or need to use different cosmetics. Men's skin, just like women's skin, needs exactly the same things, but in different doses and concentrations. One might be tempted to say that it needs even more - because men, unlike women, shave their beards and this causes irritation. This is why the belief that soap and cream is enough for men is completely divorced from reality and also confirmed by the men themselves. The male grooming segment, both for skin and hair, is growing rapidly, with interest increasing year on year.
The claim that men's skin is highly resistant to the elements can also be put between fairy tales. Although it is indeed thicker than women's, this does not mean that it is so tough and resilient that it is not susceptible to environmental factors. Naturally, men's skin, by being thicker, is a little more resilient, but this does not mean that it does not need to be supported! Such thinking unfortunately leads to skin irritation and premature aging.
