Essence is one of three brands promoted by the German cosmetics company Cosnova Beauty GmbH. The company was founded by Christina Oster - Daum in 2001, and in 2002 their first make-up brand, Essence, was launched in Germany. The company also promoted the Catrice brand in 2004 and L.O.V. in 2016. Essence addresses its cosmetics mainly to young women who like bold colours and follow new make-up trends. However, there is also something for the older clientele. An additional plus for the company is that neither Essence products, nor the ingredients used to make them, are and have never been tested on animals. It is also worth mentioning that the gel polish by Essence won a double victory in the 2016 Glammies competition - it was hailed as the best product in the "popular nail polish" category by both the editors of Glamour magazine and by female consumers.
