CeraVe - long-lasting hydration and effective skin protection
Today, the brand's range is much broader - including products for daily skin care and cleansing. One of the best sellers is a moisturising emulsion for dry skin. Its formula, as with all CeraVe cosmetics, is based on ceramides identical to those found in our skin. The emulsion is enriched with hyaluronic acid, which helps to maintain the correct level of skin hydration, soothes and regenerates. The cosmetic has a light-weight texture so it is quickly absorbed without feeling heavy on the skin. The MVE technology used delivers 24-hour hydration.
The emulsion is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and non-irritating, so people with allergies or sensitive skin can use it without fear. It is a dermatologically tested product, safe for both adults and children.
It differs from the lotion in that it is designed for very dry skin and is not exclusively for the body. The emulsion can even be used on the face under make-up.
Another CeraVe hit is the moisturising face cream. Like the rest of the brand's products, it contains ceramides responsible for building up the skin's natural protection, in this case, the face. It moisturises and intensively conditions the epidermis, while hyaluronic acid ensures adequate hydration. An additional ingredient in the cream is niacinamide, or vitamin B3, which has antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory properties. As a result, the cream soothes irritations and protects the skin from new ones. It is often recommended for skin struggling with acne.
The cream is very often recommended for people suffering from psoriasis or atopic dermatitis. This is when the skin's natural protective barrier is weakened, and thanks to a cosmetic rich in ceramides, it can be rebuilt.
Many people who have had the opportunity to try the face cream from CeraVe have remarked on its pleasant texture - the cream feels light on the skin despite its powerful regenerative action.
From a slightly different range comes a smoothing lotion for dry and rough skin. It contains three key ceramides, of course, but also urea and hyaluronic and salicylic acids. To better understand the lotion's action, it is useful to know what urea is and what properties it has.
Urea is a skin component responsible for the level of hydration. If we have too little of it, the skin becomes dry and prone to irritation. That is why urea is a valuable ingredient of moisturizing creams and lotions - it prevents water from getting out of the deep layers of the skin. In addition, it has exfoliating properties, which is extremely useful in the case of calloused skin, when the epidermis needs reconstruction. Urea also has a soothing effect on various types of wounds, which accelerates their healing.
CeraVe smoothing lotion is also supplemented with salicylic acid, which supports urea in its exfoliating and smoothing effect.
As a whole, the lotion:
• has strong smoothing properties;
• provides excellent hydration;
• improves skin texture;
• strengthens the natural protective barrier of the skin.
So far, we have presented the CeraVe brand as the one that is designed especially for dry and irritated skin. Meanwhile, the category of CeraVe cleansing cosmetics includes, among others: cleansing gel for oily and normal skin! The gel, like all brand products, is based on three ceramides. Traditionally, it is also enriched with hyaluronic acid for better hydration and niacinamide to build a protective barrier of the skin.
Oily skin is characterised by excessive sebum secretion and blocked skin pores. CeraVe decided to combat this problem and added vitamin B3 to the gel, which reduces sebum secretion. What's more, the gel is classed as non-comedogenic, meaning that it does not clog skin pores and is ideal for acne-prone skin. Of course, the CeraVe cleansing line also includes a cleansing emulsion for dry skin, which is a combination of face wash and body lotion.
